George Scribner Biography
January 2006
I was born and raised in Panama, Republic of Panama where I attended grade schools and drew my way through most of my classes (motorcycles and cartoony looking iguanas). After High School in Florida I majored in film at Emerson College in Boston and moved to Los Angeles to pursue animation.
I became an animator at the Walt Disney Studios in the early '80s and in 1988 directed Oliver and Company, a full length animated feature. After working on numerous other features including the Lion King, Fantasia Continued and Dinosaur, I'm currently the animation director for the Walt Disney theme parks.
In the last few years I've taken a number of landscape and figure painting workshops and have tried to apply what I've learned to the scenes and people of Panama. Most of this work is from photos and small digital studies done on location. (its sort of tough to get a pack of chickens to pose...hey, I tried).
It's been a fun journey getting here. I hope it shows in the work.
