My sculptures represent human ideals with a sensitive eye directed toward the richness of the experiences of life. Each and every sculpture I create starts out as a way for me to represent people as the noble individuals they aspire to be. Each person I sculpt will contribute their image, their essence and their personalities to the world in the form of an everlasting bronze monument to represent to all the world their hope and dreams. Through these sculptures I desire to make a difference by showing to the world Art that is once again made with and about integrity.

CINDY JACKSON ARTIST STATEMENT

Cindy Jackson received her B.F.A. from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA in 1988.She also has a B.S. from Webster University in St. Louis and an A.A.S. in Graphic Design from Southern Illinois University. A fine painter and sculptor, she now exclusively devotes her creative skills to the classical art of bronze. Commercially she has sculpted many toys for children as well as worked making monumental figures for several Disneyland Parks in various countries. She received a fellowship awarded in 1995 to young sculptors from the Joyce and Elliot Liskin Foundation in New York.

European art strongly influences much figurative work, and like Auguste Rodin, Cindy Jackson uses the human figure as a vehicle to delve into the mysteries of human relationships. People are a never-ending fascination for her. Unlike some sculptures that are cold and inhuman, her work shows that her people have an inner life and a vibrancy about them. Even though she is concerned about good anatomy, she goes even further bringing the characters to life with an energy that the viewer is able to feel.

Jackson's ability stems from her innate talent as a draftsman of the figure. She delicately works the sculptures in either wax or clay. The strength in her works evokes a spiritual and contemporary message. Jackson's vitality is shown in elegant works such as Ledge where a man is precariously holding a female suspended in space with an outstretched arm and hand. They are tied together in their mutual destinies and will not let go regardless of what happens. With expressive power of form, all of her works reflect a thoughtful view of the bodies in a "relationship."

Working for public avenues is such a natural for this sculptor. She brings along many years of professional work on commercial ventures as well as commissions for individuals and galleries. To show people not as superhuman heroes but as people just like you and me is what Cindy Jackson is best at. Her sculptures are completely appropriate for today's audience, who need to see people represented with integrity and dignity.
